Spring 2012 Worship

January 25: Games
What do games mean in our society, why do people play games

February 1: Monopoly
M aterialism and greed getting in the way of spirituality, what are we really trying to get out of life? (goal of monopoly – properties, money)

February 8: Clue
God sending us signs, we can’t see the whole picture

February 15: Boggle
S
eeking truth through the chaos of life, finding spiritual meaning, seeing God and knowing that He’s there

February 22 (Ash Wednesday): Operation
Taking the bad parts out of ourselves, looking at our flaws and trying to make ourselves better

February 29: Taboo
Ten Commandments, these are the set of rules that you are suppose to live by to be a good Christian, but in today’s society we (shy Lutherans) tend to try and follow these rules without really admitting to them or owing up to them, like in taboo you are suppose to make the other person say the word without using that word or the list of relating words.

March 7:   Sorry
Thinking you’re getting ahead in life and getting knocked back to start, disappointments and how to deal with them

March 14: Apples to Apples
Judgment, defining other people by a single characteristic

March 21: Chutes and Ladders
D irect consequences, how God doesn’t work that way always, ex) if you do something bad you will always have a bad result

March 28: People who always win at games (not a game)
One of your friends or the person in your family that always wins at games. Does that make them better people? Competition.

April 11:Scategories
There are different right answers to a problem, being different/creative is good, celebrating differences

April 18:Risk
Creating conflict, focusing on and glorifying conflict, what are ways we can deal with problems without creating conflicts? or how is conflict good?

April 25: Life
How real life doesn’t work out like the game, ex) there is one path – go to college, get married, have kids,

May 2: Scrabble
Making the best out of what you have, seeing good in the world or in a situation

May 9: Candyland – (because we like it when Pastor Brent brings in candy)
Pressing toward the goal, the end of the game board where the castle is, the goal in real life of being saved eternally by God
